SEAI Solar PV Grants Explained: A Homeowner’s Guide

Who Can Apply?
  • Homeowners whose homes were built before 2021
  • The home must be occupied and habitable
  • A valid MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) is required (found on your electricity bill)
Grant Amounts (as of 2025)
  • Up to €2,400 depending on the system size
  • €900 per kWp for the first 2kWp installed
  • €300 for every additional kWp up to 4kWp
How to Apply
  1. Check eligibility: Confirm your home qualifies under SEAI’s scheme.
  2. Choose a registered installer: Select from SEAI’s Registered Solar PV Companies.
  3. Submit your application: Apply online through the SEAI Grant Portal
    and include your details (MPRN, Eircode, year built, etc.).
  4. Get approval before installation: Wait for SEAI’s Grant Offer Letter before work begins.
  5. Install your solar panels
    Your selected supplier will complete the system installation.
  6. Submit documentation: After installation, required documents are uploaded to SEAI.
  7. Receive your grant payment: Payment is made directly into your nominated bank account.
